Wood Firing Nov 2014

We just had a wood firing in Oct, but made more pots and had one more firing for Celebration of Seagrove Potters this Fall. Also I made some experimental pots with new claybodies. It's good to try new materials for firing, always.

Making pots days

After clean up studio, we got back to creative days.
It's been a while, so took a bit time to remember how I was supposed to.
Then I remembered how much I missed and loved making stuff on the wheel.

Normally, after a while and when you start making pots, you make Yunomi (teacup) first.
It's very simple way to practice for your hands to remember, but.

I started from Kyusu (Japanese teapots) that is the most complicated small scale table wares.
Why? because that's the one I really missed making.

30-40 small holes as tea leave strainer
A spout will be attached after this job

Touya Show Room is Unofficially Open

Since our new house has done, our family moved out from the old house into the new one, and the old house got empty. So we started renovate it by ourselves, and finally setup our pottery show room in this summer. It's very exciting.

We will need a wood firing soon so that we should have lots of pots to fill in the gallery space, but I would like to post some pictures how our show room looks like.

Built in 1940, was a farm house for years
then become our house since 2007 until 2014
